FertiEye by SKY Agriculture Wins Silver Medal at AGRITECHNICA Innovation Award

Revolutionary image analysis technology brings laboratory precision to fertiliser spreading

SKY Agriculture is proud to announce that its groundbreaking FertiEye innovation has been awarded the Silver Medal at the AGRITECHNICA Innovation Award 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for agricultural innovation.

This award highlights SKY Agriculture’s ongoing commitment to precision, performance, and sustainability in farming, backed by nearly 90 years of expertise in fertilisation.

“Precise fertilisation relies above all on reliable fertiliser analysis,” said Julien BUREL, President of SKY Agriculture. “Fertiliser quality across Europe is becoming increasingly inconsistent, making real-time adjustment essential. With FertiEye, farmers obtain a secure setting in seconds, ensuring optimum spreading quality. This patented innovation continues our tradition of developing groundbreaking technologies, such as TRIBORD, ECONOV, EPSILON blades, and SPEED CONTROL, now widely used in spreaders across the industry.”

FertiEye: Laboratory Expertise in Farmers’ Pockets

Developed by SKY Agriculture, FertiEye is a revolutionary image analysis system that instantly adjusts fertiliser spreader settings to the specific characteristics of the product being used in the field.

  • A mechanical sampler collects a representative portion of fertiliser and separates particles.
  • An image analysis algorithm measures precise morphological characteristics—diameter, angularity, size distribution.
  • FertiEye then calculates ballistic parameters and automatically transfers the correct settings to the spreader via Wi-Fi.

Unlike systems based on simple database comparisons, FertiEye performs a true ballistic analysis—ensuring accuracy and reliability. Within just 5 seconds, farmers receive a precise adjustment, eliminating the need for time-consuming lab analysis.

A Quantum Leap for Precision & Sustainability

Traditional adjustment methods often rely on rough estimates, which can cause fertiliser application errors. A 2022 SKY Agriculture study showed that such errors increase risk by more than 30%.

With FertiEye, farmers benefit from:

  • Significantly reduced adjustment errors
  • Lower risks of over- or under-fertilisation
  • Optimised fertiliser use for higher yields and profitability
  • The ability to evaluate fertiliser quality before purchase, using just a smartphone

This innovation not only boosts farm efficiency but also contributes to more sustainable, environmentally responsible agriculture.
